We can all help by following the CDC’s steps to prevent illness.

Dear MVCAC Community,

The Maple Valley Creative Arts Council stands with the BlackLivesMatter movement and all who are calling for immediate, collective action to end the systemic racism and inequity entrenched in our communities.

MVCAC is dedicated to lifting every voice. We strive for inclusivity in order to serve all members of our community and as such do not condone violence or discrimination on the basis of gender, sexual orientation, physical/mental/emotional ability, religion, ethnicity, or race.

We believe art has the power to connect us more deeply to people unlike ourselves and create a new respect, recognition, and appreciation of what makes each person uniquely extraordinary and alike at the same time. MVCAC provides a safe, respectful and welcoming space and numerous events in our community for the expression of diverse voices.

We see the Arts as one of many pillars of safety, inclusion, diversity and democracy for our community. As an organization that believes in the power of the Arts to shine a bright light on the terrible truths of our behavior – individually and collectively – we recognize we have work to do.

MVCAC is dedicated to continually breaking down systemic inequity. However, this task is too monumental for us to take on alone. We are all responsible. Systemic racism undermines our society and putting an end to it will require all citizens to work together — with the active support of dedicated community and government leaders.

Every community. Every person. We must all step forward and actively foster new social structures built on inclusion, justice and mutual respect.

Yours in unity,

The Maple Valley Creative Arts Council Board of Directors

“The artist must create a spark before he can make a fire and before art is born, the artist must be ready to be consumed by the fire of his own creation”.

Now in its 22nd year, the Maple Valley Arts Festival is an annual community art and performance festival that features local artists and performers. Our festival typically unfolds over the course of one weekend at the Lake Wilderness Lodge, but this year, due to current events, our plan is to work with our artists and community partners to reimagine Arts Fest as a virtual experience online.

Maple Valley Arts Festival serves to further the Arts in our community. That’s what we do and who we are. COVID-19 has not changed this mission for us. We still intend to put the creative best of our community in front of our audiences. Our whole team is working on exactly how to do this right now. Our Juried, Salon, and Children & Youth Art competitions will continue, our selections will continue, MVCAC will continue.

For starters, we’re moving our art competitions and performances online. Secondly, we are exploring new ways in which we can engage our community. Think public access TV meets house party meets live performance! We’re busy working out the details.

In the meantime, here are the entry forms – Juried and Kids Art Shows. BOTH ARE FREE TO ENTER!

DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO 6/10

Vocal Performance Kids Camp*

Vocal Performance Camp

Maple Valley Creative Arts Center is proud to partner with Voice in the Valley Music Studio to offer this fun-filled, weeklong camp specifically designed for developing female vocalists (ages 11-18), emphasizing the importance of solid vocal technique to enhance song performance. Participants will explore multiple songs (solos/duets/ensembles) from a variety of genres including Musical Theatre, Classical, Folk, Jazz, and Pop, being coached by Dr. Jessi Jumper and our special vocal coach, Jessie Siren! Specific focus is on the importance of proper singing techniques, including posture, breath, phonation, and resonation, as well as the importance of connecting with your audience through dramatic action on stage.

This special camp also focuses on uplifting and empowering young girls in our community in a safe and inclusive environment. In addition to learning music that has positive, powerful messages, campers also explore relative social issues such as self esteem development, peer pressure, body issues, bullying, and more. Our goal is to give these talented young women the tools to leave feeling confident as a performer and as a person, secure in who they are, and beautiful from the inside out.

The workshop is held daily from 9am-2pm Monday-Thursday. Friday’s dress rehearsal will be held from 4pm-6pm. The Final Performance Showcase will be held at 6pm, open to the public.
