We have recently discovered the Dutch brand Craekker and their cool and clever backpacks and bags. What I love about the Craekker ethos is that they are on a mission to create ‘street-smart’ products for kids that encourage them to be independent and to do things themselves — to zip and unzip their backpack, to pack and unpack, to hang their bags on the hooks themselves, etc. They’re not just about designing cool-looking bags, but about making them as functional as possible — with zipper-pullers that are idea for little fingers, sturdy hangers that make it easy for little ones to hang on a hook, adjustable and padded shoulder straps and chest closures for the best fit, and zip pockets and compartments for keeping things organised. Everything has been considered (you can read more about the functionality here)!
Janina from Craekker recently said to me: “I really like to underline the idea that our products encourage little ones to get things done by themselves, and while we approach children’s needs in a very serious way, we never forget the fun! It’s a balancing act, but I think we are pretty good in it.” I do agree with Janina — the bags are both super functional, but also so playful and fun. I love the colour combinations and playful details like happy yellow linings and contrasting straps and zippers. Sustainability is also important to them. Not only are the bags made to last, but they’re also made from recycled PET bottles and collected ocean plastic waste, which is another great feature.
I’m so glad to have discovered this great brand and hope you will be too.
