Cook School recipe boxes have become very familiar over the last eighteen months in our household. Florence is a huge fan of the Cook School club and is always delighted to find a box waiting at the doorstep for her. Founded by food educator and award-winning children’s cookbook author Amanda Grant, has developed these fabulous recipe boxes for children to learn how to cook delicious, vegetarian meals independently for their families.

The box is posted out every two weeks if you are a subscriber or you can purchase a one off box so you can try before you subscribe. Each box includes the freshest (exact) ingredients, a step-by-step recipe card together with skills cards and a QR code which links to a video of a child cooking the recipe and showing specific cooking skills. There is also a booklet packed with fun facts about the ingredients inside the box and there is always an activity to complete too.

Cook School also has some great Ambassadors who are helping spread the word that cooking with children is great fun. Claire Patak, Zoe Adonyoh, Skye MacAlpine and Rosie Birkett are just a few. They’ve even shared some of their recipes to the boxes too. We have tried Claire Ptak’s rhubarb and vanilla crumble and the chocolate rye brownies which are incredible!

We have also enjoyed making the Mother’s Day rhubarb and custard cupcakes which we ate literally in one day and Mary McCartney’s one pot chilli was utterly divine. Florence can highly recommend the homemade soda bread rolls and egg mayonnaise too.

We can’t wait to try the fresh pasta and pesto and the Vietnamese veggie summer rolls which I see on their website are coming soon. Hurray! And the falafel recipe also looks like a winner.

Cook School boxes can be purchased online here as a one off box or you can subscribe here.

Enjoy and happy cooking!
