Omega Aqua Terra 150M Limited Edition 007 James Bond

While Rolex may be the watch brand most historically associated with superspy James Bond, Omega has been the official partner of the Bond film franchise since 1995. As a result, there have been quite a few different James Bond Omega watches produced over the years – some in conjunction with new movie releases and some “just because.” In some instances, the watches appear in the movies while in other cases, Omega makes special edition watches that don’t show up on Bond’s wrist but were made with the famous M16 Secret Service agent (and his movies) in mind.

The Omega watch we’re highlighting today was developed in honor of the 2015 James Bond movie, SPECTRE, with Daniel Craig. Keep reading for a comprehensive review of the Omega James Bond “SPECTRE” Aqua Terra 150M Limited Edition.

Brief History of James Bond Omega Watches

With the 1995 release of the GoldenEye film with Pierce Brosnan, Omega announced that it was now the official timepiece of James Bond. It was perfect timing for the brand as it had launched the Seamaster Professional diving watch (now known as the Diver 300M collection) a few years earlier – which thanks to its combination of sporty elegance and robust diving capabilities, proved to be the ideal watch for Bond’s impeccable style and specific job requirements. In fact, much of the early success of the stainless steel and blue-dialed Seamaster Professional 300M watches can be attributed to it being James Bond’s watch over several films spanning the mid-1990s to the mid-2000s.

With every Bond film since 1995, Omega has equipped 007 with a Seamaster watch, whether it be a Diver 300M, Planet Ocean 600M, or Aqua Terra 150M. Here are some of the Omega Seamaster watches that have appeared in James Bond films over the last two-plus decades.

  • GoldenEye (1995): Seamaster Professional 300M Quartz ref. 2541.80.00
  • Tomorrow Never Dies (1997): Seamaster Professional 300M Chronometer ref. 2531.80.00
  • The World Is Not Enough (1999): Seamaster Professional 300M Chronometer ref. 2531.80.00
  • Die Another Day (2002): Seamaster Professional 300M Chronometer ref. 2531.80.00
  • Casino Royale (2006): Seamaster Planet Ocean ref. 2900.50.91 and Seamaster Diver 300M ref. 2220.80.00
  • Quantum of Solace (2008): Seamaster Planet Ocean ref. 2201.50.50
  • Skyfall (2012): Seamaster Planet Ocean ref. 232.30.42.21.01.001 and Aqua Terra ref. 231.10.39.21.03.001
  • SPECTRE (2015): Aqua Terra ref. 231.10.42.21.03.003 and Seamaster 300 ref. 233.32.41.21.01.001
  • No Time to Die (2022): Seamaster 300 ref. 210.90.42.20.01.001

In addition to the above watches that have appeared in the movies, Omega has also made some commemorative watch models for fans to enjoy. One example is the subject of this article today: the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra James Bond Limited Edition ref. 231.10.42.21.03.004 developed for the release of SPECTRE.

Design: Omega James Bond Seamaster Aqua Terra LE

Made with the most fervent fans of the 007 franchise in mind, Omega applied the James Bond theme liberally to the special edition SPECTRE Omega Aqua Terra ref. 231.10.42.21.03.004.

First of all, on the tip of the yellow seconds hand, there’s a miniature version of the Bond family coat of arms (fun fact: the Bond family motto “Orbis non sufficit” translates to “The World is not Enough). Furthermore, a closer look at the vibrant blue dial, housed within a 41.5 mm stainless steel case, reveals a repetitive pattern that also takes its design cues from the family shield. The dial is also furnished with a date window at 3 o’clock, and everything on the face of the watch is protected by a sapphire crystal.

Also, just under the “MASTER CO-AXIAL CHRONOMETER” font on the dial, Omega cleverly modified the magnetic resistance-rating label to “15,007 GAUSS” where the last three digits are in reference to Bond’s famous codename. Completing the design of the dial are the matching yellow minute markers on the outer edge, along with luminous tapered indexes and the iconic Omega broad-arrow hour hands.

While the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra 150M James Bond Limited Edition watch comes with a matching stainless steel bracelet, there’s also a blue nylon strap with yellow stitching included in the set that really plays up the colorway of the dial. Naturally, the set comes with a strap-changing tool for easy bracelet switching.

Movement And Functions

If we flip the limited edition SPECTRE watch around, we see the Omega Master Co-Axial Caliber 8507G working away through the sapphire display case-back. Continuing the 007 theme, there’s the visible “James Bond” marking front and center on the rotor. Plus, the movement’s skeletonized oscillating weight has been cut and shaped to resemble a gun barrel (hence the “G” in Caliber 8507G).

Bond branding aside, the self-winding Master Co-Axial Caliber 8507 supplies the Aqua Terra watch with a 60-hour power reserve and boasts a magnetic resistance of 15,007 gauss. There’s also a silicon balance spring on a free-sprung balance, a pair of barrels mounted in series, and an arabesque Geneva waves decorative finish.

The watch’s case-back is engraved with the watch’s unique edition number (limited to 15,007 pieces), as well as other important features such as water resistance (500 feet/150 meters) and magnetic resistance (15,700 gauss).
